Softening without hiding
The fireplace was the room’s anchor and its problem: beautiful stonework, but so dark and rustic that nothing else in the room could hold its own. Rather than strip it, the family asked if paint could calm it down while keeping the texture.
After deep cleaning and a mineral‑bonding primer, the stone took two washed coats that settle into the joints instead of sitting on top. Walls and woodwork followed in a warm off‑white, and the room went from competing with the hearth to gathering around it.
